100 SERIES C-PIGMENTS
100 Series C-Pigments are highly concentrated pigments suspended in water. Mix these pigments into our clear coat systems to create a usable and durable leather dye with specialty applications depending on the coating used. These pure pigments will not work by themselves. When the pigments dry they are akin to chalk and will not only be easily removed from the surface they were applied to but also embed themselves in many of the surrounding surfaces. This will create an unwieldy and difficult-to-contain mess. They WILL fail if not mixed into a clear coat. These pigments are, however, vibrant and full of color. This is in addition to being very fade-resistant, meaning your work will look great for years to come. We source these pigments to be O.E.M quality.

90/10 SYSTEM

Mixing only 1 part pigment into 9 parts clear coat will give you (in most cases) an opaque and easy-to-apply coating, that when done correctly, will last for years to come. This is what we call our 90/10 system. The 90/10 system uses nine parts clear coat to one part pigment. For example, to mix 100 grams of of stain finish Red Oxide you would use 10 grams of #150 Red Oxide C-Pigment with 90 grams of our #050 Satin Topcoat. This would produce a durable and opaque coating with a satin finish that would not come off easily once cured. Mixing more than 10% into the coating, however, can cause issues such as cracking and color transfer. Similarly, mixing less than 10% may result in issues such as the coating no longer being completely opaque. It should be noted as well that certain color pigments such as #134 Lemon Yellow will be less opaque and require more passes to build up a solid color. This issue can also be caused by not thoroughly stirring and mixing the components together.

STIRRING THE PIGMENTS

Make sure that all pigments are mixed thoroughly and completely, leaving no sediment at the bottom of the bottle each and every time a pigment is used. Not doing so will result in poor colors that do not match our swatches or formulas. Better Mixing equals better color matching. Certain Pigments are more dense than others and will require more mixing. Our stir rods are great for this task, helping to make sure that all the components are being mixed and no sediment is left behind. Flipping bottle upside down overnight is good if they have not been used for a while. This helps to unsettle the pigment at the bottom of the bottle and make it easier to mix when used next.

COLOR MATCHING

Get a color matched by selecting the color matching fee option as well as the amount you’d like (a minimum purchase of 8oz is required for a custom matched color). Before making your purchase, please check to make sure that you have a completely opaque sample of the color you would like matched and that it is at least 2 cm. by 2cm. in length and width. If it is smaller or somewhat translucent we will not be able to properly match the color. Once you have your sample, mail it to us at to 9449 Brookpark rd. Parma, Ohio, 44129. Unit B.

Be sure to include your name and contact details as well as the order information so we can properly match it to your order. After we have received the color sample it will take us 2-4 days to match the color. If you have any questions or would like further details, please contact us at (216) 398-5100 or email us at Jerry@duramend.com. We love to help our customers.
